"IN C" Community Performance

CALLING ALL MUSICIANS AND AUDIENCE MEMBERS!

Alternating Currents is proud to announce its next  project, "IN C."

IN Celebration  of the spring Equinox, Alternating Currents in collaboration with New Music Bay Area and Contemporaneous , will present a community performance of Terry Riley's seminal 1964 composition "In C" on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the Albany Bulb at 6pm PDT.

Bay Area musicians of all ages and skill levels, on any instrument, are invited to join this participatory communal event to welcome the new season. All are welcome — click on the button below to join.

In C' is a musical piece composed by Terry Riley in 1964 for an indefinite number of performers. A series of short melodic fragments, "In C" is often cited as the first minimalist composition.

At sunset, during Golden Hour moving into dusk, musicians will collaborate on the 45 to 90 minute work. Musicians are invited to bring their instruments to the Bulb for this one-of-a-kind event.

All performances of 'In C' are unique, as players respond to not only the simple one-page score, but to each other, the time of day, and their surroundings.

Staged outdoors at the extraordinary Bulb Amphitheater, this all-inclusive celebratory event promises to be a joyous, inspiring, and a clear musical signal of hope and optimism.

After you have signed up, we will share additional information as we approach the March 20th date of the event. Thank you for your participation! We can't wait to make music with the whole community! albanybulbeventseries@gmail.com.

Alternating Currents is a project of Love the Bulb.
